LET’S EXPLORE WHAT ENDURANCE TRAINING IS ALL ABOUT

I’m Dr. Steve Berkey, and I’m here to help you train for running races, cycling races, duathlons, and Spartan races more efficiently and safely.

I’ve had the honor of working with many endurance athletes in the past 15+ years. Training for an endurance race can be overwhelming but exciting. I’ve helped athletes from injury to crossing the finish line. Adopting the endurance lifestyle is an exciting adventure. I’ll be your guide.

SIMPLIFYING YOUR TRAINING

Below are resources to get you started to being part of the endurance world. I organized courses, equipment, software, and more to make your journey easier. Check it out below.

COURSES FOR YOU

There is so much information online. To eliminate paralysis by over-analysis, 90Rev includes courses, taught by yours truly, that walk you through step-by-step tool tutorials and include tools to make your endurance life easier. My goal is to provide a place where everything pertinent to your training is in one place. You no longer have to research the Internet to piece together the details.

SO MUCH EQUIPMENT

Whether you’re training for a running race, cycling race, or duathlon, there is so much equipment. Below is a breakdown of all of the equipment and brands that I’ve used and had great success. Without the right tools for the job, it’s difficult to get the job done.

TREK BIKES

Your bicycle is the most expensive investment. After a lot of experimenting, I’ve decided to pursue an aero road bike. I like to mix up my training, so I need the Swiss Army Knife of training. I need a bike for speed, climbing, and all around comfort. I’m a big fan of the Trek Madone. I’ve been using a Trek Fuel for years and love the durability and comfort.

SUNDAYS INSURANCE

Protect your investment. Bikes are like cars without the motor. You need to invest in some insurance. I have nightmares of the day my beautiful bike has an accident. Give Sundays Insurance a try.

GARMIN

Data is so crucial when training. Data guides you and acts as a tool. But don’t fall into the trap and think that data is everything. You must also listen to your body.

I’ve been using Garmin for a long time. On the bike, the Edge 1030 has been the perfect companion. On the run, the Fenix 5 has been phenomenal. If you don’t have a device that accurately collects data, then your training is not going to be as efficient. I don’t know about you, but I want to use every minute to the best of my ability. Life is precious.

STRAVA

Strava is an online social community for endurance junkies. It’s not about what you wore or what you ate last night. On Strava, you can find out how many miles your buddies are logging on the bike or foot. You can dive into the specs. Speak the endurance language and add a little smack talk for fun.

ZWIFT

There are some days that you have to ride on the trainer. The weather and circumstances in life are not always perfect. I don’t know about you, but I get bored on the trainer. Zwift has removed the boredom and added a little fun into the dreaded indoor training. Give virtual indoor cycling and running at try at Zwift.

STRENGTH TRAINING IS THE SECRET SAUCE

Don’t get injured while training. Overuse injuries are common in cycling, running, or the multisport world. But most of these injuries can be avoided. Overuse injuries are the most common when training for a race. You need to prepare the soft tissues of your body. Strength training is the key to remaining injury resistant. Think of prehab vs. rehab.

ROGUE FITNESS

Equipment from Rogue is designed for the most intense workout. When creating my home gym, I wanted quality equipment that will last my lifetime and have the durability to be used daily. Rogue equipment has exceeded my expectations.

NAKED NUTRITION

I’m all about being healthy. Training and working out is key to becoming the better you, but you must have the proper fuel to take into the next level. Naked Nutrition’s philosophy is simple…nothing to hide. Naked Nutrition powders and supplements don’t contain the junk that your body doesn’t need. These supplements, combined with a healthy and complete diet, play a huge role in maintaining the endurance lifestyle.

THANKS FOR COMING

I’m here for you as both a guide and as a friend. I struggle just like you. Just like you, I have to balance the craziness of life, suffer from bike envy and desire to use my time wisely when training. I’m not perfect but want to walk in this endurance lifestyle with you.
